Billy Martin is on my mind this afternoon. If you can think back to the days when the Yankees were really a soap opera, Billy decided one day that he'd had it with both Reggie Jackson and George Steinbrenner and declared the following: "One's a born liar. The other's convicted."
The born liar (according to Martin) was Jackson. Steinbrenner had been convicted of making illegal campaign contributions to Nixon. So . . . nice crowd for Billy Martin, who was not exactly an angel himself, to hang with.
