DOJ reveals Dems acknowledged Barr subpoena was 'overbroad,' slams 'disappointing' plan for contempt vote

One day after the Democrat-led House of Representatives announced it would vote next week on whether to hold Attorney General William Barr and former White House counsel Don McGahn in contempt, the Justice Department (DOJ) is firing back, revealing publicly that Democrats themselves acknowledged in May that their subpoena for Special Counsel Robert Mueller's files is "unworkably overbroad." In a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., the DOJ said it was "prepared to resume negotiations with the committee regarding accommodation of its narrowed Subpoena" -- as long as Democrats removed the "threat of an imminent vote by the House of Representatives to hold the attorney general in contempt."-- More...
