People need to learn how to discuss partisan matters for real, not just copying memes or shouting insults in comment sections. We need to share honest information and work together to develop functional compromises

Freedom of speech is the first amendment in the Bill of Rights. Free speech was rare at the time of our Founding. Kings and Czars could imprison or kill anyone who dared to criticize them. When the Founding Fathers set up their republic they realized that freedom of speech was an essential check on government.
We think elections are contentious these days, early campaigns were chock full of overstatements, mistruths and insane accusations, but our Republic survived.
