In the wake of Benedict XVI's passing, many have commented on his June 2009 encyclical, "Charity in Truth," wherein he says, "there is urgent need of a true world political authority." (67) The encyclical was released a day before leaders of a group of eight industrialized nations met to coordinate efforts to deal with the global meltdown, signaling a clear papal bid to prod leaders to a financially and morally responsible future. Benedict was calling for a reform of the United Nations and other world economic institutions that they not be a scandal and detriment to humanity. He was urging U.N. globalists to be moral and to guide by the teachings of Christ.
