GOP senators want US to cut off money to UN climate agency

WASHINGTON (AP) — More than two dozen Republican senators are calling on Secretary of State John Kerry to cut off money the U.S. sends to the United Nations climate change agency or risk breaking the law. In the letter sent Monday, the 28 senators say Palestine last month became a member of the agency, known formally as the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change. They say Palestine's entry triggered a restriction under the 1994 Foreign Relations Authorization Act. The law prohibits the U.S. from providing taxpayer funds to U.N. organizations that grant full membership to certain groups, such as the Palestinians. More...
