Earlier this month, actor and comedian Billy Crystal sat down with CBS Sunday Morning and said what many people feel but few say on national television. Asked whether he still talks to God, as he famously did on stage in his Tony Award-winning “700 Sundays,” Crystal answered, “No, ’cause I don’t trust Him” (Nasir, 2026). The reasons were not hard to find. The Palisades fire destroyed the home where he and his wife, Janice, had lived for 46 years (Schneider, 2026). Then, in December 2025, his friend and creative partner of five decades, Rob Reiner, and Reiner’s wife, Michele, were killed in their home. The couple’s son has been charged in their deaths (Nasir, 2026).
