Journalist who made bomb threats to frame ex may get lighter sentence

A jilted former journalist who was sentenced to five years in prison for making fake bomb threats to Jewish community centers in a bid to frame his ex-girlfriend will get a new — and possibly lighter — sentence because he wasn’t properly served with his ex’s restraining order against him. A federal appeals court in Manhattan ruled on Wednesday that Juan Thompson, who argues that he should receive a prison sentence of no more than three years and one month on his cyber-stalking conviction, will get another shot at sentencing before the same federal judge who hit Thompson with the maximum sentence. -- More....
