During the White House press briefing this morning, a reporter shamelessly carried water for a violent criminal — pushing the idea that Trump’s team should be negotiating to bring a deported MS-13 gang member back into the United States.
Reporter: “A question on Abrego Garcia, if I can. The president recently said when it comes to facilitating his release, he's leaving that up to his lawyers. Just to be clear, have there been negotiations between the U.S. and El Salvador over his release or facilitating his release?”
Leavitt didn’t flinch and immediately tore the talking point apart.
“Look, I will tell you what the president of El Salvador told all of you in the Oval Office,” she said.
“El Salvador does not intend to smuggle a designated foreign terrorist back into the United States. He is an El Salvadorian national. That is his home country. That is where he belongs.”
She made it crystal clear:
Trump’s administration is standing strong with President Bukele, and there’s zero intention of bringing that criminal back.
“The administration intends to comply with what President Bukele said of El Salvador. He does not intend to send that individual back.”
Still desperate to keep the narrative alive, the reporter pressed again:
Reporter: “So that's a no? There's been no talks?”
Leavitt, now clearly done entertaining the spin, ended it cold:
“What I have told you, is that the president of El Salvador has made this quite clear.”
