US Colonies as Cities of Refuge: The biblical Cities of Refuge were communities where those in danger of tribal revenge could flee for protection (see Joshua 20). The American Colonies began as cities of refuge from Woke British demands for conformity to Anglican purity tests or suffer religious courts, social disgrace, professional ruin, torture, imprisonment, execution. Tea Tax led to Revolution.
Redux Censorship & Public Disgrace: Now, history repeats itself as we again face Leftist woke purity tests and speech codes, or suffer prosecutions, professional disbarment, financial collapse, public ruin, and social banishment. So it's beneficial non-Leftists have other venues to express ourselves. The Comment section of online publications is the new front in the ongoing Cancel Culture Battle.
