“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” ~ Franklin D. RooseveltThis quote was an effort by Franklin D. Roosevelt, who as we now know was our first closet socialist president, to calm Americans during the Great Depression of the 1930s. For the most part it did, in fact, ease the minds of many Americans. However, as we now recognize, the first burst of the federal government getting out of its enumerated powers lane was with FDR. However, in the last eighty years, we have seen that once a government program starts, it never dies no matter how expensive it is or how much of a failure it is as long as it provides some level of power over some segment of the population. A program may morph into something else, but it never dies.
