Moonbeams, unicorns, and voluntary taxes

California Gov. Jerry Brown (D-Havana) demonstrates once again why the political left’s feeble grasp on reality is seldom more tenuous than when it comes to taxes. Regarding criticism of California’s new $52 billion tax hike, Brown said, “The freeloaders — I’ve had enough of them. They have a president that doesn’t tell the truth and they’re following suit.” The definition of freeloader is “a person who takes things from others without paying for them or giving anything in return.” That would seem to describe the people who take advantage of the welfare system, not people who pay taxes.
