The phrase "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me" means that if someone deceives you once, the blame is on them. However, if you let the same person deceive you again, the responsibility falls on you. This proverb encourages individuals to learn from their mistakes and to avoid being taken advantage of repeatedly.
That’s all well and good, but what if there is a third party that is continually victimized by the person/persons being deceived? And what if the person/persons weren’t being deceived at all, but instead were deliberately doing things to sabotage the third person?
