Ontario health officials are changing how the government reports COVID-19 hospital and intensive care unit admissions after admitting many of those being reported as COVID patients were diagnosed after being admitted for other reasons.
“Many individuals have noted the importance of distinguishing between the patients admitted to hospital or the ICU for COVID-19 versus those admitted for other reasons such as a broken bone or appendicitis but also test positive for COVID-19,” Ontario medical officer of health Dr. Kieran Moore said during a virtual announcement on Dec. 30.-- More...
