Seattle has been one of the cities that has suffered the most from the radical “defund the police” movement.
The majority of the council is already in favor of defunding the police by 50 percent. As a part of that effort, the council introduced a bill which would transfer a lot of present police responsibilities to a civilian-led “Department of Community Safety and Violence Prevention” which would handle things like the 911 call center.
