Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth called on Americans to honor the fallen not just with parades and prayers—but with strength, vigilance, and the courage to defend the freedom they died for.

“We owe a duty to those who have fallen in war. They have paid a debt we can never repay.”

That debt, Hegseth said, isn’t symbolic. It’s a daily obligation—to remain strong enough to preserve peace.

“The duty we owe these men is peace, which only can be achieved through strength. And because we strive for peace, we must prepare for war.”

He warned that peace is fragile, and freedom demands eternal vigilance.
