At Toronto’s Humber River Hospital, patients are greeted by a friendly android called Pepper. But that’s just the start of the facility’s technological whizbangery.
Billing itself North America’s first “fully digital” hospital, it has an electronic “command centre.” Robots mix medication — under human supervision — and move goods around the hospital. Bedside touchscreens provide access to electronic health records and face-time with health professionals unable to be there in person.
