WASHINGTON — After Prime Minister Mark Carney spent the past several months rallying foreign governments to counter U.S. economic policies.
The investigation was reportedly triggered after Carney encouraged countries to coordinate against the United States while simultaneously strengthening ties with China and unveiling what diplomats described as “a bold new strategy of having a completely different position on Iran every few days.”
“Normally when an ally starts organizing the rest of the world against you, that raises a few questions,” one administration official said.
“We’re monitoring the situation,” the official added. “Right now analysts are just trying to determine if Canada is still an ally or if we somehow missed the part where they joined the other team.”
