Conservatives are exaggerating. They're a bunch of paranoid hillbilly crackpots who still see the red menace lurking around every corner. When they portray their opponents as a bunch of collectivist drones, Republicans are just trying to scare the electorate. That's the narrative the left would like you to believe. In reality, they say, your elected officials are dedicated to the greatness of America's founding principles.
