The professional career, and for all practical purposes, lifelong federal legislators isn’t what the Founding Fathers had in mind when they penned the United States Constitution. The Founders intent was for citizens to step up and serve—let me repeat—to serve We the People in Congress for a short period of time to do the country’s business and then return to private life.
