What Price Liberty? A Family Answers the Call

When their ship from the Netherlands docked in the harbor of New Amsterdam (now New York City) in 1688, Garrett Hendricks DeWeese, and his wife Zytian, could not have known of the historic events that would direct the destiny of their future family. Nor could they have known how those future sons and daughters would be central figures in molding those events.

Almost one hundred years after Garrett landed on American soil, his descendent joined others in a great struggle to overthrow the oppressive rule of the King of Great Britain. The growing DeWeese family found themselves heavily involved as some served in the militias, while others served in the Continental army and navy.

That is one great family history, thank you for sharing this with us at this time when we need heroes like you and yours.
My grandmother deceased now but also from Pennsylvania also had a family history similar traveled across the USA in covered wagons into Alberta Canada as a child back in 1883 lived in a sod hut with animal skin windows she was a Swiss German and somewhere I have relatives in Pennsylvania I have not seen since I was a child. I wish we had kept track of what she knew. No heroes like your family though at least that we know of.
We must stop this takeover of our countries.
My fathers family came from the Boston area and moved to what is now New Brunswick in 1721 but they sadly supported the King back then. Although his family still has many still living on the east coast mainly of the USA. I learned as we had a huge family reunion.
