Police stormed a grandmother’s home at gunpoint after facial recognition software said she committed a crime


FARGO, N.D. (WKRC) — A Tennessee grandmother said she was wrongfully arrested and jailed in a bank fraud case after an error with facial recognition software.

Angela Lipps, 50, claims she spent nearly six months in jail after U.S. Marshals arrested her at her home in July 2025 as a fugitive from North Dakota. Lipps says she had never been to the state before.

"I've never been to North Dakota. I don't know anyone from North Dakota,” Lipps told WDAY News. "It was so scary. I can still see it in my head, over and over again.” ---More...
