In our world today it seems that hardly anything can be agreed upon. However, I believe all Americans can agree that the decade of the 2020s has started out chaotic. The last century had the “Roaring 20s.” We seem to be entering the “Chaotic 20s.” We are seeing things we never believed we would see in our lifetime. It seems as if some kind of new normal is developing, and we are all wondering what’s next?
In March 2020, certain government connected officials began terrorizing the country by making wildly inaccurate guesses about COVID 19. In effect, they put their mouth in gear before engaging their brain or looking at actual science. As a result many Americans are still unreasonably fearful of COVID 19. The mask mandate is a visible symbol that perpetuates that fear. The pre-mask prediction of 4 million deaths from COVID 19 in the United States created a population so fearful that millions of people still have not recovered from the initial fear. That is some seriously successful terrorism.

Please remember, there was a high degree of waffling about the effectiveness of masks: first masks were okay; then masks were no good against the COVID 19 virus. Then masks and lock down were to be required for only two weeks to flatten the infection hospitalization curve. Finally a mask was absolutely required, and two were even better, until further notice. The elitists discovered how easy it was to gain control of the American population. So much so the lockdown mentality is still in place in many states. To paraphrase both Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin, when you sacrifice liberty for safety, you will lose both and deserve neither.
After the fulltime mask mandate was in place, things started to go, what we called in law enforcement, sideways. People began exhibiting the most anti-social behavior. The “woke” movement reared its ugly head, the anti-law enforcement movement started, and nationwide chaos and riots began. Lastly, the anti-liberty “cancel culture” showed its ugly face to the world. Lying, cheating, and stealing have become acceptable and no longer worth comment in America. To say the year 2020 was totally bizarre is putting it mildly.
There appears to be a generalized mental disorder that is very widespread throughout America and it started in 2020. The symptoms are a generalized acceptance of lying by our government, our politicians, the media, and even individual Americans. Then there is lack of tolerance of individual thought and the uncontrolled desire by many to deny others their right to free speech. These symptoms were unheard of until 2020.
I suggest the root cause of why 2020 was as bizarre as it was is the use of masks. That is the common element associated with all Americans and others around the world. None of the issues identified above were as radical as we saw in 2020 until we all began wearing masks. I believe the mask may be the primary reason for the deviant behavior of Americans in the 2020s. The mask is a subliminal reminder of the fear we must have about COVID 19. There are many medical experts who suggest there are physiological issues with wearing masks as much as many of us do: Reduced oxygenation of our blood, increased rebreathing of CO2, rebreathing of other bodily wastes, etc.

Then there are the mental health aspects of wearing masks. We have become a mass of mask wearing entities with far less individuality. With a mask on we often are not recognized by people we have known for decades. With masks comes less accountability and less inhibition concerning our behavior.
The least of the abhorrent behaviors exhibited themselves in 2020 were by people unreasonably trying to redefine the world such as the woke movement and the cancel culture movement. The most easily identifiable common element between the woke community and the cancel culture community is the fact that they are Democrats, and they wear their mask far more than the average American. These issues and the negative effects of masks are on full display in the U.S. Congress.
The most severe symptoms of mask wearing were exhibited in a more violent manner with the chaos and riots that started in the summer of 2020. These people acted out in a much more anti-social fashion. As we saw in the videos, nearly every one of those that were acting out, were always wearing their masks. Were these people suffering from the physiological or mental impact of wearing masks? Probably not, they were simply socialist anarchists. But with masks came less inhibition and no fear of accountability.
News flash! American culture is still crazy in 2021, and the continued use of masks will continue to contribute to the loss of inhibition by “normal” Americans and the socialist anarchists. Will we see more chaos and riots in the second year of the Chaotic 20s? I’m afraid so. The solution is to ditch the masks!
