The Only Performance Review That Matters

"One great error is that we suppose mankind more honest than they are." ~ Alexander Hamilton
"Few men have virtue to withstand the highest bidder." ~ George Washington
"Now, mark my words. So long as we are a young and virtuous people, this instrument (the Constitution) will bind us together in mutual interests, mutual welfare, and mutual happiness. But when we become old and corrupt, it will bind no longer." ~ Alexander Hamilton
"Liberty will not long survive the total extinction of morals." ~ Samuel Adams

Before the United States of America was the United States of America the Founding Fathers had one serious concern in common. They knew that honesty, moral values, and virtue were required elements for all government officials, and if those qualities ever disappeared, so too would the people’s liberty.

Simply follow the money

"When once a Republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles; every other correction is either useless or a new evil." ~ Thomas Jefferson
“America is great because America is good; if America ever ceases to be good, she will no longer be great.” ~ Alex de Tocqueville

America started its slide from de Tocqueville’s “good” on November 22, 1963, when John F. Kennedy was assassinated. America ceased being “good” on January 20, 1989, when George H.W. Bush was inaugurated. In those 26 years, the massive system of uniparty political machine corruption was perfected right under the noses of We the People. It took another 27 years for We the People to recognize and start to react to the reality that we had a rotten corrupt political machine government we no longer controlled. The final wakeup call was the tyranny of the COVID response and the violations of the United States Constitution that could not be hidden.

“Show me a man that gets rich by being a politician, and I'll show you a crook.” ~ Harry S. Truman

What about the performance review thing? If We the People want to know how well our elected officials and senior government employees (GS-15 and above including Senior Executive Service) are doing in regard to “serving the voters” and preserving and protecting the Constitution, there is one performance review that will reveal the naked truth for all to see. There is one performance review that will reveal the good guys from the bad guys at all levels of government. There is one performance review that can be used on public figures that are no longer in office, such as Lyndon Baines Johnson. Simply follow the money.

If a public employee, elected or career, has a net worth that can’t be explained

What was the net worth of the public official when he/she entered public service compared to his/her net worth now or when they left public service? President Harry S. Truman gave us the only performance review we needed about 75 years ago. Why haven’t we used it before now?

If a public employee, elected or career, has a net worth that can’t be explained beyond what would be expected by his government salary, we have one of Truman’s crooks. These elected crooks are beholden to someone other than the voters that hired them. The unelected career government crooks are beholden to someone other than their agency and are not complying with their oath of office.

The high visibility crooks we already recognize who would fail this performance review, include the Clintons, the Obamas, the Bidens, and that 29-year-old former bartender from New York, just to name a few. Unfortunately, there are many more members of the uniparty political machine, both Republican and Democrat, who would fail this performance review spectacularly. I fear that the failure rate would include a majority of elected officials from city council members, mayors, state legislators, governors, congress people, to presidents. I would also include most political appointees and many in the staffs of all of the above.

Too much of government is only eye wash. They keep trying to make We the People think they are doing things, yet the only thing they really do well is spend money the American government doesn’t have and make suckers out of We the People as they take more and more of our money by taxing us to death.

So now you know that the only performance review that matters is the before and after net worth evaluation. Don’t be shocked by how few will pass this litmus test.

"The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury." ~ George Washington
