But I want to leave you with this from
Charles Murray in today's Wall Street Journal. Most of these "tips for being happy" pieces are rather predictable and not all that intriguing, but this one was really good, and I especially appreciated Murray's perspective as an agnostic "whose unbelief is getting shaky," as well as his explanation for why.
I'll give you the five points, but you need to promise me to click through and read the whole thing (and believe me, you're doing yourself a favor, not me and not the Journal):
- Consider marrying young.
- Learn how to recognize your soul mate.
- Eventually stop fretting about fame and fortune.
- Take religion seriously.
- Watch Groundhog Day repeatedly.
If you need an added incentive to read Charles Murray, please be aware of the fact that the
left can't stand the guy, and as usual, for completely absurd reasons.
In my absence throughout much of the day, this would be a great place for a discussion about whether you've found Murray's advice to be true in your own life, as well as what you've found to be keys to happiness. Enjoy the day! For me, happiness is Tiger baseball!
