A Bad Moon Rising over Jerusalem

So I have known Islam on three continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed. That experience guides my conviction that partnership between America and Islam must be based on what Islam is, not what it isn’t. And I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear. President Barack Hussein Obama, The University of Cairo, June 2009

With the past three months, President Barack Obama has initiated volcanic policies that will produce an enormous sea change in America’s relationship with Israel and the Muslim world. Concerning Israel, Mr. Obama has demanded the stop of the expansion of Jewish territories into the areas it acquired during the Six-Day War. There are now 128 Jewish communities in these areas, with a population of almost 300,000 Jews. The unprecedented demand includes the surrender of the Old City of Jerusalem to the Muslim Arabs so that it can become the capital of the new Palestinian State. The Old City contains the Temple Mount, the holiest place in the world to the Jewish people, and the Via Dolorosa, the path that Jesus walked on His way to crucifixion along with the Holy Sepulcher - - the place where He was buried. Israeli Government Press Director Daniel Seamen reacted to this Obama administration directive by saying: “I have to admire the residents of Iroquois territory for assuming that they have a right to determine where Jews should live in Jerusalem.” But Mr. Obama remains adamant about his demands. He insists that the Israeli government cow-tow to his demands under threat of the relinquishment of military aid and economic support and he already refers to “Palestine” as a separate country. While Defense Minister Barak attended a meeting in the office of National Security Adviser Gen. Jim Jones, Mr. Obama stuck his head in the door to order Israel’s most decorated soldier to produce a plan for the creation of a new Palestinian state by July. In response to the push by Israeli hawks for pre-emptive U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Mr. Obama proclaimed that Iran “should have the right to access peaceful nuclear power if it complies with its responsibilities under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.” Within the near future, this radical Shiite nation under genocidal maniac Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is expected to rival Israel as a nuclear superpower. In a 2005 speech entitled: World Without Zionism,” the Iranian president referred to Israel as “a disgraceful stain on the Islamic world” that needs to be “wiped from the pages of history.” Mr. Obama, with is Islamic roots, apparently agrees. With his unprecedented demands and genuflections to the Muslim world, the U.S. President is now challenging the thesis of Israel and its lobby, AIPAC, that U.S. and Israeli interests are one and the same, that America and Israel are partners in upholding the tenets of Judeo-Christian civilization. Mr. Obama is stating in no uncertain terms that the Jewish settlements in Jerusalem and Gaza represent an impediment to the New World Order that must be removed, and that the creation of an independent Palestinian state must take place without delay. And even if Israel believes its interests are being subverted and its security imperiled, he will take measures to ensure that his policies will prevail and that the will of the Muslim world will come to pass. To make matters worse for Israel, Mr. Obama has sent special envoy George Mitchell (a first generation Arab-American) and two diplomats to Syria for the improvement of relationships and possible remove of all sanctions. Mitchell, the former senator from Maine, is known for his pro-Islamic stance as a legislator. In 2001, he penned the Mitchell Report which called for the abandonment of Israeli settlements in the so-called “Palestinian territories” (Judea & Samaria). This move was made in light of Mr. Obama’s proclamation in Cairo last week that he intends to bring about “a new beginning,” exemplified by “mutual respect,” between the United States and an Islamic world of 1.5 billion. Any doubts of Mr. Obama’s resolve to bow to Mecca were dashed by several of his other statements, including his condemnation of the war in Iraq as a “war of choice” and his pledge to end the combat mission within the next fifteen months. So much for the 4,311 American soldiers who were killed in the conflict and the 100,000 wounded. imageMr. Obama’s new policies concerning Israel and the Muslim world come in the wake of his pronouncement that America is no longer a Christian nation and that the United States represents “one of the largest Muslim countries.” All of this fares ill for Benjamin (“Bibi”) Netanyahu, Israel’s Prime Minister, who was elected on solemn pledges never to negotiate with Hamas; never to permit a Palestinian state (”a second Hamastan”) to come into existence; and never to allow Jerusalem, the holy city of David, to be divided. Netanyahu also pledged his commitment to the “natural growth” of Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria. Strange that all this has come to pass without a cry or whimper from the Jews in America - - 78% of whom - - voted for Mr. Obama, or from the Christian denominations who know that support of Israel is mandated by scripture. It’s stranger still that these things have come to pass without a word of protest from veteran organizations, political action committees, and patriotic societies, even though radical Islam (i.e., mainstream Islam) remains at war with Israel and the United States. Mr. Obama is on the wrong side of this fight. Sad to say, his predecessor who proclaimed Islam “the religion of peace,” was far from a shining example of a Christian knight. Mr. George W. Bush was and is committed to the bifurcation of Israel and the creation of a Palestinian state. Mr. Bush, truth be told, never met a Muslim dignitary with whom he didn’t want to hold hands. And so it goes. . .
