This last week was simply the most recent collection of events brought to us by the Progressive Left whose principal competence seems to be the creation of discord and misery. Isn't it time we put the adults back in charge?

A momentous week in American history

Last week was a week that saw a major first for America. It marked the first time an administration used its power to persecute a political enemy. Donald Trump was indicted by the Southern District of New York on 34 counts of falsifying records. Actually, it was just one unique count that they cut and pasted an additional 33 times. Since then, numerous commenters across the country have been abusing electrons to explain to us how weak the case is, and what a fool the attorney Alvin Bragg is for even pushing the case forward.

Ulterior motives

I think they are all missing the point. I don't think Bragg expects to succeed in prosecution. The real reason was to get Trump embedded in the New York legal system where he can be manipulated and strung along so as to sabotage his reelection campaign.

The first clue is that the date set for the next hearing is December 4. There is no reason to delay the case for seven more months, especially as the attorneys are probably ready with their motions and filings. Clearly there is something else at work.

How it might work

Consider that December is well after the GOP convention in mid July. If, as it seems likely, Trump is selected as the GOP candidate, then by December, his campaign will be in full swing with scheduled rallies, campaign stops, speeches, and all sorts of activities planned. Imagine if the court were to schedule its next round of hearings on the same days as major rallies were scheduled. Imagine that the court would require the presence of Donald Trump during those hearings.

Failure to show would put Trump in contempt of court. Trump would have to cancel a rally or miss court. If Trump didn't show for court, there would be a legitimate cause for prosecution that didn't involve the fantasy case for which he was indicted. Trump could have a warrant issued for his arrest, and could even be considered a flight risk and confined to his home or even jailed. Imagine Donald Trump with an ankle monitor. What would that do to his campaign? What if he couldn't hold any more rallies?

While that scenario might seem far-fetched, it is only one of many that a desperate Deep State might pursue to disrupt the campaign of a candidate they both fear and loathe. They might even make Brandon look like a reasonable candidate again. Don't worry that JB might not even be alive at that point.

A prior example

When Lenin passed away, the Soviets had him stuffed, mounted, and displayed in Red Square. Here the Left could call on woke Disney to assemble their animatronics engineers to produce a walking, talking version of JB realistic enough that no-one might notice there is no longer a real person there. Indeed, that might even be the case already. He's clearly given indications that his batteries might be running down from time to time.

The power of an agenda

The point here is that the people behind this and many other power moves of the Left are ruthless, determined, and will break any law, trample any norm, and take whatever action they feel justified to accomplish their goal of transforming our Republic to a totalitarian state under their control. They see themselves within sight of their objective and just need to put a few more pieces in place to complete their coup. That is their Hope and their desired Change.

Those on the Right simply want to maintain what they have and live their lives as best they see fit. The Left sees a great waste of potential and has an agenda of creating an all-consuming State that can direct people according to the desires of the "leaders". Remember Mussolini, who considered Fascism to be the perfection of Socialism and who saw everything in the State and nothing outside the State. Everyone exists to serve the State.

Thus we see the age-old conflict between those who just want to be left alone, and those who think they have the right to tell everyone else what to do and command obedience.

Have we forgotten who we are?

The world has been watching us these last two years - watching as our nation is eroded, our Constitution ignored, and the moral authority we had built up over more than two centuries of fighting for individual rights and freedoms was trashed in an historical blink of an eye. The world watched as we did nothing except watch in impotent silence as all that makes our country special and exemplary was, and continues to be, erased as though it had never been.

Is America an illusion? Is it just some wild fantasy of moral principles and government by citizens? Or is it just like every other nation in history where power and wealth have their way and ordinary people only serve to support the ambitions of a select few?

Costs and consequences

America has been a stabilizing force throughout the world, seeking peaceful resolution to conflicts where possible, and limited use of force where not. As America has weakened, though, we see the rise of new conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East, Pakistan, with China poised to take over Taiwan, massive unrest in Europe, South America, and even Canada as totalitarian globalists exercise their power against their own citizens.

We see the global system of trade based on a common currency fragmenting as countries seek to break free of a dollar based reserve currency. We experience the breakdown of our own economy as inflation rages and major banks collapse in spite of all the regulatory efforts of the past decades.
