'Cap Black idea: DOJ 'compliance decrees', w/centrist & conservative teams guiding diluted departments whose leftist leadership told them not to arrest, not to charge or under charge career criminals making mayhem. Take away liberal consent decrees, liberal leaders still remain.

I've been kicking around my 'compliance decree' idea for quite some time.

My goal isn't to further undermine home rule through new, this time right of center, oversight of police departments.

Quite the contrary.

What I have in mind is offering the second Trump administration an embedded tool to ensure that diluted departments aren't further weakened once his Justice Department ends liberal consent decrees.

An inconvenient truth is, even after left of center federal monitors are sent packing, anti safety city leadership is still in place who don't want proactive policing of problem people.

A federal 'compliance decree', with centrist and conservative federal monitors, would checkmate local liberal leadership and national backers who feel they can do their thing in the absence of consent decrees.

'Their thing' too often means plummeting staffing, plunging police and citizen morale and profoundly unsafe streets for police officers and the public alike.

The only way to undo a national movement to dilute departments in the name of police reform is to strengthen them in the name of police reinvigoration.

'Compliance decrees' are a right of center answer to liberal consent decrees over police departments.
