A thug from Chicago who doesn’t have America’s best interest at heart

A silver tongue in a mealy mouth

To say that President Barack Obama speaks “with the tongues of men and angels” is to understate his skill as an orator, as he is likely the most accomplished public speaker to hit the American political scene in two generations. Yet the context of his words is more akin to a “sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal” as most of his utterances seem contrived and mechanical. The jokes Rush Limbaugh used to make about Obama’s teleprompter weren’t that far off the mark, given the disconnect between what Obama says and what he actually does.

There’s little doubt that the Obama White House is in so far over its head it has to reach up to touch bottom. To date, none of the Obama policies have done anything to improve Americans’ lives and in fact have contributed substantially to a general decline in the country’s quality of life. When looking at what Obama and the Democrats stand for, one can readily understand how pissed off Americans were with the Bush administration to hand over power to an incompetent poseur heading up a European-style socialist cabal that promised hope and change, yet has not managed to deliver on either. The Health Reform Act, better known as Obamacare, which absolutely positively had to pass last November or the country would cease to exist was passed without most members of Congress actually reading the 2,400-page bill. Yet the bill doesn’t actually take effect until 2014, causing many Americans who ignorantly supported the legislation to wrongly believe that they were going to start receiving free healthcare immediately. The President’s promise that the bill would reduce healthcare costs and the deficit is just so much hot air emanating from an empty vessel. And still, once the bill takes effect it will leave tens of millions of Americans without healthcare, contrary to the Democrats’ claims Ditto for the so-called stimulus, which was feverishly passed with the assertion that it would keep unemployment in America below the 8% mark. One trillion dollars later, the unemployment rate stands at close to 10% with no visible relief in sight. What’s more, the number of jobs created by private industry continues to be negligible, despite Mr. Obama’s claim that he personally created over 400,000 new jobs just last month. That’s actually true, but what the silver-tongued devil did not tell Americans was that the jobs he created were all temporary government jobs, sinking the country further into debt. And while we are on the subject of debt, today each and every one of America’s 330 million citizens personally owes a total of $39,393 on the national debt, which is now in excess of $13 trillion (that’s 12 zeros following the 13). Even after having been in office for a year and a half, Obama still talks about the “failed policies” of the previous administration. While that makes for great sound bites, it does little to instill confidence in the American economy as Obama is continuing to pursue those “failed policies,” but on a much grander scale. Between 2003 and 2008 America’s debt grew by $500 billion per year, largely as a result of 9/11. In fiscal 2008, the national debt increased by $1 trillion and in 2009, following Obama’s first full year in office, the debt increased by near $2 trillion! If you think of money as the oxygen of business, then the government borrowing money on such a grand scale is in effect suffocating business, as available capital is monopolized by government to fund extravagant socialistic schemes and can’t be used by business to create real jobs. The Obama administration’s “cap and trade” legislation, if passed, will result in the impoverishment of all Americans, as the cost of living will increase dramatically, taking thousands of dollars out of the pockets of American families and lining the pockets of Al Gore, Maurice Strong and other fat cats engaged in trading carbon credits. This law is continuing to be contemplated despite the almost daily revelations that global warming, or climate change, if you will, is a complete scam on a level that makes Bernie Madoff look like a penny-ante grifter. A comment making the rounds among Democrats after the BP oil disaster struck the Gulf of Mexico claimed that “God was a Democrat,” as the disaster was yet another of those crises that wouldn’t be wasted. A strong case can be made for liberal Democrats ultimately being responsible for this disaster, as the hysteria about drilling on the US mainland or in the shallow waters off shore has caused the to categorically ban energy exploration in the places where oil is easily accessible. Consequently oil companies have to drill at 5,000 ft. below sea level to harvest the oil. This crisis will almost certainly be used to levy new taxes on oil companies that will all be passed to consumers, making life that much more expensive. It will also certainly be used to further restrict energy exploration elsewhere and to fund the development of so-called “sustainable” energy sources such as wind and solar power. While alternative sources of energy are an admirable goal, there needs to be an element of realism in any scheme that affects our economy. The best time to perform the R & D necessary to create viable alternative energy sources is when the economy is strong. The worst time is right now, when we are more vulnerable economically than at any time since the Great Depression. It’s also interesting to note that Obama is ready and willing to sit down with any of the world’s slimiest dictators to “negotiate.” Yet, he has steadfastly maintained for at least two weeks that he would categorically not meet with BP’s CEO, Tony Hayward, for fear that Hayward would be telling him what he wanted to hear. Does Obama think that Mahmoud Ahmedinajad or Kim Jong Il would offer an open and fruitful discussion? If so, then he really shouldn’t be sitting in the oval office. The new financial regulations coming down the pipe is another case in point where those responsible for the economic collapse are now going to enact legislation to ensure it doesn’t happen again. While Barack Obama is in no way responsible for the initial meltdown of the economy, his current policies will ensure that there is a reprise and it will come sooner than we think. Given that the federal government has unfunded liabilities in excess of $62 trillion (including such nuisances as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and the ever popular Fanny and Freddy) on top of the current $13+ trillion It isn’t banking regulations that are needed, but spending constraints. Any attempt to create further entitlement programs will most certainly result in America going broke. Barack Obama has in reality served a very useful purpose in that he has given Americans an understanding of what true change might look like. It won’t be any time soon that Americans will be electing a future president on the basis of vague promises and grandiose speeches. Obama may well be among the great orators of our time; but having a silver tongue lodged in a mealy mouth does not a great statesman make. In the final analysis, he’s still a thug from Chicago who doesn’t have America’s best interest at heart.
