Socialism, the enemy of capitalism

Abolishing The American Dream

In his interview with Bill O'Reilly, Barack Obama talked extensively, but in stealth terms, of his socialist plans to redistribute the wealth. To O'Reilly's credit, he called Obama on it openly, using the word "socialism." Obama then said "We have to help people who have a tough time affording college..., people who are having a tough time - they don't have healthcare, people who are trying to figure out how they are going to pay the bills, and there's certain things we've got to do...," then he wandered off the subject sighting Beijing’s sudden rebuilding (for the Olympic games) as an example for rebuilding our infrastructure.

We have to help people afford college, with health insurance and paying their bills on top of paying for housing and their food? The problem is that none of these things mentioned by Obama are constitutional functions of the federal government. None of these things represent constitutional spending by the federal government. None of this proposed federal spending of the tax payers' money is authorized in the Constitution. As O'Reilly put it, it is robbing those who earn it to give to those who don't, and that is socialism, the enemy of capitalism. But then Obama topped himself when he said "If I am sitting pretty, you've got a waitress who is making minimum wage plus tips, and I can afford it and she can't, what's the big deal for me to say I'm going to pay a little bit more? That is neighborliness." It might be neighborly, to offer the waitress a larger tip from your own pocket, but to take money out of the pocket of the guy sitting at the next table to give to the waitress is not very neighborly; it is robbery. And when the government does it, it is Marxist socialism. But that is exactly what Obama wants to do. That is how socialism works. It takes money away from those who earn it, and gives it to those who don't. And it's not just a "bit" as Obama put it. It's going to be a lot of money. With Obama it's always "As I’ve said…;" "as I've said before...;" "as I've repeatedly said...;" and "as I've said from the beginning...," then often saying something that he has never said before. He uses these intros when he has shifted his positions 180 degrees from those he used to court the far left during the primaries. Now, in moving to the center, he's lying about having "repeatedly, consistently, always" said these things. Whenever challenged on his Marxist plans for the country, he tap dances around the issue, quoting himself, changes the subject, and never really answers the question. The one “change” we can always expect from Obama is his change in position on the issues appropriate to his audience. Then consider that this waitress working for minimum wage is not likely to be paying any income tax in her tax bracket anyway. Obama's claim of reducing income taxes for 95% of Americans isn't going to effect her, or is it? Obama's plan is not to reduce the income tax rate, but rather to give a one time tax rebate to everyone, even that waitress who didn't pay any taxes. To those who paid taxes it is a one time $600 to $1000 tax rebate. To the 45% of working Americans who don’t pay any taxes because of the Bush tax cuts, it is welfare. Obama calls it a “tax cut,” it certainly is not. The tax rate on income will increase as Obama has said - he will repeal the Bush tax cuts. The promise of the "American dream" guaranteed in the Constitution is that everyone shall have the opportunity to advance in a free economy to their full potential, and keep what they earn for their work. Obama would destroy the capitalist system that built this country with his program of redistribution of the wealth, and would remove any incentive for people to advance to their full potential. The American dream would become a thing of the past, and America as a country would suffer for it. People don’t want to spend their working lives working for the government so that politicians can spend their money for them. But that is exactly what Obama is proposing. Not only does Obama intend to raise taxes on everyone, either directly or indirectly, he intends to double the income taxes on incomes over $250,000 which includes most small business owners. Can you see just how insane this really is? That money from the top wage earners would be handed out by the government as welfare, instead of being invested in America's growth to build businesses that would otherwise be hiring people instead of laying them off. By offering jobs, low wage earners then have the opportunity to advance to higher income levels. By giving them welfare, they always stay broke and remain loyal Democrat supporters, never realizing their constitutional rights or the American dream. Instead, they just settle for what the government gives them, which is money taken from the rest of us. According to Investors Business Daily, Obama's plan includes: "Universal," "guaranteed" health care. "Free" college tuition. "Universal national service" (a la Havana). "Universal 401(k)s" (in which the government would match contributions made by "low- and moderate-income families"). "Free" job training (even for criminals). "Wage insurance" (to supplement dislocated union workers' old income levels). "Free" child care and "universal" preschool. More subsidized public housing. A fatter earned income tax credit for "working poor." And even a Global Poverty Act that amounts to a Marshall Plan for the Third World, first and foremost Africa. I see the word “free” in there 3 times and the rest refer to government subsidies and entitlements. There is no “free” lunch. Someone has to pay for it, and that someone is the taxpayers. Obama has absolutely no respect for the individual working men and women in this country. To him, America is a commune where all wages should be shared for the common good. That is exactly the kind of thinking that America was founded and established to escape from. That is not freedom and liberty - it is slavery. Need I repeat that none, zero, nada, of this proposed spending of public money is authorized by the Constitution. None of these things are constitutional functions of the federal government. This is not what the federal government was designed for, intended for, or established for. Wouldn’t it be refreshing to see a presidential candidate stand up and say "If elected, this is what I will do," and then start quoting the Constitution. Why do you suppose politicians never bring up the Constitution in their campaigns? Primarily because they threw it under the bus more than half a century ago and haven’t seen it since. The Constitution is a structural blueprint for the federal government. If you build a building and don't follow the blueprint, and start adding on extra weight in places it was not designed to support, the building will likely collapse. Such is the case with the federal government as we are now seeing today in our $9 trillion national debt and an out of control budget deficit that will never be reconciled, but will continue to grow. The foundation of our federal government is collapsing before our very eyes under the weight of the excessive and unconstitutional baggage it now supports. But they still want to take on more weight. Instead of holding Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac accountable for their poor business practices, our government has decided that we, the taxpaying public should be held accountable for Fanny and Freddy's failures. This assures Fanny and Freddy and others that they can continue their faulty business practices without risk of accountability. The deficiencies that led to Fanny and Freddy's failures will continue and never be corrected. The cost to the American taxpayer could be as high as $6 Trillion which means nothing to politicians. And why should it? It’s not coming out of their pockets, even though many of them contributed to this crisis by encouraging mortgage lenders to accept unqualified buyers. Now they want to hold the working public liable for their failures? Will this be the tipping point and the last straw for the taxpayers? Will we elect a Congress and a president who will get control of this spending addiction and reform the government? Or will we continue with more of the same irresponsible spending until our currency and our Constitution are nothing but worthless paper? There can be no “American dream” without a government that respects the Constitution. We must vigorously resist a government which holds us accountable for the failures of others, just as we must adamantly resist a government that robs the public of money they earn to establish income equality for all. America is not a communist country, but it's looking more and more like it all the time. Individuals must take personal responsibility for their own lives, that is what freedom and liberty demand. Businesses must take responsibility for their own businesses and not expect the taxpayers to bail them out by mandates from the government. If the government wants to hand out the taxpayers money for things not already authorized in the Constitution, it requires a constitutional amendment to do so. That requires ratification of all 50 states. Government officials and politicians insist that we all follow the law, but when will we hold them accountable to the highest law in the land? We have our next opportunity to do just that this November 4th in the voting booth. Be sure you know who you are voting for; whether or not that person respects the letter of the Constitution; and he or she is worthy of the responsibility with which you want to entrust him or her. We must stop electing these welfare socialists to represent us in government before there is nothing recognizable left of America, and before our freedom and liberty is reduced to a memory, and kept in a shoe box under our beds. First we had the Bear Stearns bailout, then came Indicorp Bank. Now it's Fanny and Freddie. The Big Three automakers are already asking the government for low interest loans and the airlines will be next. What do all these businesses have in common? They are all subject to overbearing government regulations created by Congress where very few have any credible business sense. Once known as communism, it has now become known as Democrat socialism where Congress is trying to run business and industry by proxy. Nancy Pelosi wants to take money from the oil companies and give it to alternate energy companies. "I don't think it's a good alternative [offshore drilling], but if they can prove that it is and they want to pay royalties to the taxpayer, let us use those royalties to invest in renewable energy resources, then we have something to talk about," she says. The use of the word "taxpayer" here is code for "the government," which would take money from the oil companies and redistribute it to their own special interests. The taxpayers would not see any of that money and would have no say in its Marxist style redistribution. This is Obama socialism on an industrial scale, and Pelosi’s use of the word “taxpayer” is a lie. With retirement and investment plans that actually own the American oil companies, it is in fact, the very taxpayers Pelosi refers to from whom she would be taking the money to give to her special interests. Our country is under attack today from within, and on two different fronts: There are the socialists like Barack Obama and most of the Democrats in Congress who want to redistribute the wealth from those who earn it to those who don't. And then there are the American communists who want the government to take over the free enterprise system and control all commerce in the country. I know this sounds frightening, but it is exactly what is now happening. Even the small business that I work for in California is being overburdened and threatened by excessive government regulations and taxes. I don't think we could survive under an Obama administration with a Democrat controlled Congress without drastically raising our rates. As other contractors are forced to do the same, our services will become unaffordable to many customers. Business will slow down and employees will be laid off, adding to the unemployed. Running a business in California is already hard enough with the liberal Democrat regulations from Sacramento. It would be impossible with those policies mirrored in Washington. Lastly, we have the antiwar crowd who think the ultimate objective in America should be “peace.” That has never been the objective of America. For well over 200 years Americans have fought and died for freedom and liberty. That is what this country is all about. Personal freedom and liberty did not come easy, and it is not easy to hold onto - it has to be fought for, and will continue to be fought for, or it will be taken away. Those who think “peace” is more important than freedom don’t understand America because they have never lived in, or learned about, countries who do not enjoy our liberty. We need to elect a new breed of politicians to Congress who will get the government out of our way and let the free enterprise system work through competition, not government regulations. Government interference in our lives and in private enterprise is abolishing the American dream. It’s time to stand up and fight back for the survival of a free America and American values. Only John McCain and Sarah Palin appear willing to do that with the help of conservative congressional candidates.
