After nearly 10 years of Trudeau, isn’t patriotism a little quaint?

The dire straits in which Canada finds itself today is entirely our own fault. For nearly 10 years we’ve had a ‘post-national’ Prime Minister whose main concern is the weather, while ignoring all the tedious business of government, like you know, governing.

But let’s take a good, hard look at our country

We’ve been assured the budget will balance itself, the planet will be dead in 10 years unless we keep paying more taxes, immigration is the best thing for the Canadian economy, The Chinese Communist Party’s ‘basic dictatorship’ is admirable, along with a plethora of other progressive policies.

But let’s take a good, hard look at our country:

Canada’s military is roughly on par with that of Monaco, except Monaco’s military is likely better equipped.

Our economy has cratered, as our natural resources remain underground in a world starving for energy. Mr. Trudeau’s belief that there isn’t a business case for Canada exporting liquid natural gas betrays his ignorance of economics, as well as the global picture.

Donald Trump’s imposition of tariffs on Canada and Mexico is nothing more than an attention getter. Like the story of the old farmer that whacks his mule with a 2 X 4 before plowing to “get its attention,” the tariffs are transitory and will disappear once the American administration has found solid footing.

The attitude of Canadian media is also an embarrassment. Reverting to cheap jingoism, Canada’s media touts our moral superiority over Americans, rather than deal with real issues plaguing both countries.

Toronto Star: “Trudeau government reveals $6.5 billion plan to help businesses and workers impacted by Donald Trump’s Tariffs.” Someone please explain to me where that $6.5 billion is coming from, another tax hike?

National Post: “How Canada Wins: Why finding new pathways for pipelines—heading east west and north—is gaining momentum.” Haven’t we gone through this before with Quebec blocking the Canada East pipeline, Trudeau blocking Trans Mountain, and who will buy the oil shipped north?

2023-2024 15,474 Canadians died while awaiting treatment

Vancouver Sun: “We’re sending a message: David Eby sets the right tone on Donald Trump” This is something that we in Canada are particularly good at doing, albeit no one appears to be hearing the message.

It is regrettable that the imposition of these tariffs have strengthened the Liberals, giving team Trudeau and Carney a bad orange man to blame all our problems on. It appears many Canadians are falling for it.

We blithely accept a broken healthcare regime under which people die waiting for treatment. There are several million Canadians that cannot find a family doctor, because the Canada Health Act is rationing healthcare. A lot of exceptional doctors have decided to emigrate south as a result.

It’s a shocking fact that in 2023-2024 15,474 Canadians died while awaiting treatment. While no one really seemed to have kept track of exactly how many patients have died waiting for treatment, SecondStreet.org decided to have a peek by looking at government records and found that nearly 75,000 patients died waiting for care. Because not every provincial health ministry keeps such records, it’s possible this number is double.

Where’s the outrage?

President Trump has given the Liberals a ‘Wag the Dog’ issue that turned attention away from the shortcomings of our own federal government in favour of straw men.

Our so-called reciprocal actions will have no impact on the US. But the results could be devastating for Canada.
