After sheriff complains about anti-police Facebook pages, his posts are removed

In the upside down world that is now the United States of America where thugs are heroes and cops are targeted for execution, here is another example of this craziness. Michael Bouchard, the sheriff of Oakland County, Michigan, is on the executive of the Major Counties Sheriff’s Association (MCSA), a group representing sheriffs in jurisdictions with populations over 500,000.

Last weekend, Bouchard learned that Facebook has several pages along the lines of “F**k the Police.” As well, the sheriff was told Amazon was selling t-shirts with such things as “F**k the Police,” “Kill the Pigs,” and “Fry the Bacon” written on them. The MCSA issued a release that read in part, “We have seen an uptick in targeted killings and anti-police rhetoric over the past few months and it has come to the attention of the MCSA that Amazon and Facebook are not only promoting criminal behavior but are profiting from it.” Bouchard posted what he was doing on Facebook and encouraged others to join him to get Facebook to take the offending pages down and to pressure Amazon to stop selling the anti-police shirts. Amazon did pull a lot of the anti-police merchandise from their website. But there was no response from Facebook. What was truly amazing, or perhaps not, was what Facebook did. Not only did they not remove the pages or communicate with Bouchard and the MCSA but they took his posts; the ones complaining about the anti-police pages, down and prevented them from being shared. Bouchard said, “It’s incredibly frustrating. Why is the content that encourages direct violence against police acceptable, but when we question it, it’s not?” The sheriff wants to use social media so he and others can bring pressure on Facebook and Amazon to take down pages that call for the killing of police and to stop the selling of merchandise that glorifies the anti-police feelings that are found throughout the country. Facebook has not replied to the MCSA or to media outlets that contacted them regarding why the pages remain while Bouchard’s postings were removed. A simple Google search of “F**k the Police” will reveal how many anti-police Facebook pages there are.
