The ground trembled to the roar of Merlin engines at full throttle as gallant airmen raced down runaways to meet the approaching air armada. “Never have so many, owed so much, to so few” was how Winston Churchill described these warriors. Seventy years later, history is having a metaphorical repeat.
Today’s airmen are the gallant REAL scientists who have correctly recognized the threat crossing the horizon. The established leadership has assured us all that these are benign air transports delivering harmless energy credits. These precious credits will then save our endangered environment.
The Real Airmen Fighters know that these are in fact bombers full of carbon credit carpet bombs, preparing to level our cities, farms and factories. These front line fighters recognize that their leadership is either ignorant, complacent or duplicitous. These RAF airmen will over-ride the ‘stand-down’ orders and rise to defend the essence of modern life and the honor of the English Scientific Method.
The 50,000 members of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers are among the most informed scientists on the behavior of air.
Founded as the Heating and Ventilating Engineers Society in 1894, this group changed their name to add Air Conditioning in 1954 with the popularity of this post war convenience.
The American Society of Refrigerating Engineers was founded in 1904 and in 1959 these two organizations merged to form ASHRAE. Back in that day, junior engineers where chided for not understanding the complexities of gas fired, ammonia cycle absorption chillers, the beauty of cork and canvas insulation systems or the ‘safe’ methods of asbestos wrappings on steam equipment and systems.
The joke was two way for even the senior engineers did not lament the passing of these ancestral ‘climate control’ systems. But today’s senior engineers do have a legitimate reason to chide today’s junior engineers. For in our latest transition, we have lost something of true value….something that we must now regain.
Perceived Precision Trumps Intuition
Back in the day engineers used two sliding logarithm scales for rapid calculations with three digit accuracy. Adding or subtracting logarithms would then gave answers for multiplying or dividing. This provided just the three digit base solution and the exponent was a separate calculation. Accurate results demanded a very conscious effort and focused attention.
Before you dismiss the slide rule as a hopeless relic of the past consider that it was slide rule calculations that led man from first flight at Kitty Hawk to breaking the sound barrier with jet engine aircraft in just 45 years. When Apollo XIII was in crisis, it was the slide rule that calculated the time and duration of the re-entry burn that saved the mission. The computer of that day would have taken an hour, time three astronauts did not have.
Back in the day, air conditioning load calculations were made by converting relative humidity to grains of moisture per pound of air, then following the entering and leaving conditions on a psycrometric chart. ASHRAE airmen have, by necessity, had to be very knowledgeable of the properties of air.
Airmen cannot calculate the heating and cooling loads for a building without through understanding of the range of local temperature, wind, humidity and altitude. Solar heat loads, and wall and glass shading, are dependent on the seasonally varying solar azimuth angle. To design for weather conditions required detailed knowledge of weather.
Airmen specializing in refrigeration cannot calculate the energy requirements to flash freeze food, or maintain healthy production processes temperatures, without knowledge of Thermodynamics, properties of the food materials and the latent heat of solidification process. Back in the day, engineers relied on scientifically trained, empirically based intuition to reinforce their three-digit, slide rule accuracy.
Today, junior engineers have lost that powerful gift. Computer calculations with a ten digit presumed accuracy have replaced the intuition, so valued by previous generations of engineers. This presumed accuracy results in failures which would be obvious with a better developed sense of physical reality. Inputting coordinates for your destination, then punching ‘autopilot’ is not considered mastering flight.
Presumed Precision Trumps Intuition
Trusting in computer output without trained intuitional oversight is a dangerous precedent. You trust that the program was correctly designed, that it is operating correctly and all data was input correctly. The hypothesis of ‘Human Caused Global Warming’ is a textbook example of simultaneous failure of every one of these factors.
Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) was an outcome driven, reverse engineered hypothesis with NO basis in science. Consider just the ‘thermal mass’ of the Earth system. By volume, there is 259 Trillion cubic miles of solid mass with an average temperature of at least 2500F. There are 310 Million cubic miles of oceans and lakes.
This total amount of water is 0.023% of the Earth mass and the total atmosphere is 0.00008% of planet mass. Carbon dioxide is then 0.004% of the atmosphere and the HUMAN CAUSED CO2 is just 0.03% of that. This is not even measurable in terms of total heat storage capacity in this massive system.
The Earth has at least a 10% variable annual solar input due to astronomical factors. The Earth has 700,000 cubic miles of fissionable Uranium which has a variable decay rate. The most visible evidence that this geo-nuclear energy is variable is the variability of volcanic activity. Despite all of this evidence, presumed scientists with NO knowledge of Thermodynamics, claim that AGW is the greatest threat to the planet.
To prove that AGW hypothesis is false, please read the following two articles. First, by Marshall Space Flight Center Director, Dr Roy Spencer is posted at his website. “Yes Virginia, Cooler Objects Can Make Warmer Objects Even Warmer Still” is offered as proof of the hypothesis of ‘back-radiation’. This ‘proof’ of AGW is in violation of the Laws of Thermodynamics and common sense.
Then read, “Rocket Scientist Need NOT Apply”, posted at Canada Free Press. Climatology is a newly created science, unversed in the full range of accepted science, which has presumed the freedom to create, their own set of rules. It is incumbent on those trained in REAL science to correct this self deception.
Notice to Airmen
The leadership of ASHRAE and many scientific societies have apparently lost their intuition. These leaders have placed trust in ‘presumed’ science which violates the very science that these leaders utilize daily. It is incumbent on the members of ALL SCIENCE SOCIETIES that we review the overwhelming evidence proving that human caused atmospheric levels of CO2 have in fact, NO impact on climate.
Earth’s climate has varied for almost 4 billion years with no human interference. The planet’s climate will continue to change for eternity. What we MUST change is our willingness to believe authority figures who willingly distort reality. We need airmen from all walks of science who will stand and defend open, honest scientific debate. What we need is for YOU to enter this fray.
