Al Franken 'embarrassed and ashamed' of doing the things he's not quite sure he did

Al Franken doesn't remember doing the things he's accused of doing. ...Or, when he does remember the incidents, he remembers them differently. Either way, he's "embarrassed and ashamed" by having done the things he claims to not know if he did. Confused yet? Yeah. So are we. ...And his explanation doesn't help:

The fact is, Franken's trying to have it both ways. He's - sort of - admitting he did something wrong, but not quite admitting any potentially career-ending specifics. Did he grope a sleeping woman? Hold your horses, pal. He's not admitting that. He thinks, maybe, he "crossed the line for some women." Did he grab a woman's rear during a photo at a state fair? He's not saying that, but he's not denying it either, because he respects women so much that he wants to honor their experiences. Can he say he's never done the things of which he's being accused? Nope. And he's "not making any excuses" for the things he may or may not have done.

That quote comes from the video below. It's an interview with Wisconsin's WCCO, and it strains credibility well past the breaking point. Franken says he's looking forward to "getting back to work" and "regaining trust." That's Washington D.C. speak for "I can't wait until this blows over, and I can pretend it never happened." Here's the bottom line: Every man knows whether or not he's groped a woman in public, without her permission. Full stop. If he can't, or won't, say "no," that raises all sorts of red flags.
