In my travels today, I came across a scene that couldn't be more Americana. I saw it as I drove by, turned around and asked for permission. She told me this story.
"My father, a local recruiter for the Army, as WWI was in armistice, planted this tree the day I was born. My mother gave birth to me in the back bedroom of this house, here in Kalispell, Montana. November 11, 1918. Later that date was selected to become Veteran's Day. I fly the American Flag everyday. The tree and me are 92 years of age. I love this old tree but she sure makes a mess."
Note: Her great grandchildren are scheduled for a reunion next summer. They will paint the house.
