American left: Netanyahu only won because he made a racist speech!

It's not enough that the Obama political machine tried to meddle in the free elections of a democratic ally (of the nation, that is; not necessarily of Obama). But having utterly failed in their quest to take down Israel's strong, resolute leader and replace him with a dithering, milquetoast fool, the Obama crew and their allies now find it necessary to publicly grouse about it.

First, Obama political hack David Axelrod took to Twitter to lament that Israel chose its own national security over Obama's dreams of a piece-of-paper-waving ceremony with Iran: If you're wondering what Axelrod and other lefties have chosen to grouse about publicly, this should explain it:
Within moments of the announcement of the exit polls, some of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s critics were claiming his likely win in today’s Knesset election was the result of a crude, racist appeal to voters. The justification for this charge was a speech made by Netanyahu and released only on social media because of restrictions on campaign appeals in the media, telling the country that left-wing groups funded by foreign money were busing Arab voters to the polls in order to elect a left-wing government led by his Zionist Union rival Isaac Herzog. Netanyahu’s opponents interpreted this as an appeal to racism. The statement was unfortunate because it made it seem as if the prime minister viewed Arab voters as somehow illegitimate. But the voters likely saw it in a different light. The prospect of a left-wing government that depended on the Joint Arab List was always unlikely. But a critical mass of voters viewed the prospect with alarm not because they’re racists but because a government that relied on the votes of anti-Zionists that favor Israel’s dissolution was something they considered a danger to the future of their country. Despite the expectation that dissatisfaction Netanyahu would lead to the end of his career, Netanyahu appears to have survived and will likely surpass David Ben Gurion as the country’s longest serving prime minister. Only a few days ago this was considered unlikely because the polls showed Herzog’s Labor-led party with a solid four-seat lead. But just as Netanyahu’s numbers were depressed in 2009 and 2013 because of the widespread belief that he couldn’t lose, the belief that he was finished had the opposite effect. A significant number of voters who might have gone for other right-wing parties such as Naphtali Bennet’s Jewish Home, went back to Likud in the final days in order to prevent a victory for the left.
By the way, it wasn't actually that tight at all:
After a bruising campaign focused on his failings, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel won a clear victory in Tuesday’s elections and seemed all but certain to form a new government and serve a fourth term, though he offended many voters and alienated allies in the process. With 99.5 percent of the ballots counted, the YNet news site reported Wednesday morning that Mr. Netanyahu’s Likud Party had captured 29 or 30 of the 120 seats in Parliament, sweeping past his chief rival, the center-left Zionist Union alliance, which got 24 seats. Mr. Netanyahu and his allies had seized on earlier exit polls that showed a slimmer Likud lead to create an aura of inevitability, and celebrated with singing and dancing. While his opponents vowed a fight, Israeli political analysts agreed even before most of the ballots were counted that he had the advantage, with more seats having gone to the right-leaning parties likely to support him.
That's the New York Times, by the way. They held out as long as they could, but finally they were forced to admit that Netanyahu won a decisive victory. This is what it's come to in American politics. For Obama and the Democrats, even foreign elections are now totally partisan and ideological matters. A right-wing prime minister of an allied nation is not an ally, because they don't like anyone right of center, especially when they stand up for their own national interests instead of for Obama's delusional dreams about using his personal charm to persuade Iran to give up the bomb - or at least of falsely taking credit for same. So all the Obama political operatives who headed over to Israel to help Netanyahu's opponents failed, probably because they failed to understand that Israel is a nation constantly facing existential threats, and its voters know better than to be distracted by nonsense like Big Bird and "binders full of women." Too bad America's voters aren't as smart.
