On June 19, 1914, Gavrilo Princip, a 19-year-old Bosnian Serb student, assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary, and his wife Sophie. It triggered the First World War, wrongly predicted by H.G. Wells to be the end of wars.
On July 13, 2024, Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old, is alleged to have used his father’s rifle in a failed attempt to assassinate Donald Trump that killed one bystander and seriously injured two others.
Had Crooks been successful, he might have triggered the Third American Civil War among a citizenry already dangerously divided.
That divide was fueled by the now fully discredited allegations of Trump having been a tool of Russia.
That false claim spread like wildfire from selected Democrat politicians in the House of Representatives, fueled by the far-Left Media with their daily allegations of crimes and lies assigned to Trump.
When then Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi tore up a copy of Trump’s first State of the Union Address it represented the Democrat Party’s declaration of war again Trump.
Since then, their perpetual fountain of hate speech has flowed against Trump and his “MAGA” supporters, often using language once describing Germany’s Nazi Party in 1933-1945. Hillary Clinton piped in referring to Trump’s followers as Deplorables.
Back in 2008, Barack Obama labeled many “white working-class Americans ‘bitter’ and said they cling to guns or religion’." (The Week)
That use of language formed the foundation of political hate speech in American. The liberal legacy media grabbed, owned it, used it daily, and still does.
But that tactic—of using hate speech to defile any legitimate political candidate and his or her supporters—has a shelf-life that is running out of time.
Had the trajectory of the bullet that bloodied Trump’s right ear made contact less than an inch closer to his skull, “all hell might have been opened” (Isaiah 5.14).
