Another Plea to Allen West

Back in late-February, I sent a letter (via fax) to Congressman Allen West (R-FL) asking that he consider running for president in 2012. In my opinion, Col. West is the only Republican that generates any excitement at all – at least as far as I am concerned. The political pundits on television are touting Mitt Romney as the front-runner. Obviously, I would pick Romney over Obama (I would pick Mickey Mouse over Obama) but I honestly believe that Romney will end up being another John McCain. I do not see the fire and the passion in Romney. And I believe that Obama will end up cleaning Romney's clock, so to speak. Don't even TALK to me about Palin. She has two chances and one of them is "slim".

The other night, I wrote a follow-up letter to Col. West which I faxed to his office Thursday (202-225-8398). As you read the letter, you will see that I allude to one word: “PASSION”. This is a quality that I see in Col. West but one that I find sorely lacking in just about every other candidate (Herman Cain notwithstanding). My fear is that we are going to end up with another lackluster Republican presidential nominee. If this is the case, we can count on four more years of the disaster that is Obama. Following is the text of my follow-up letter to Col. West" Dear Congressman West, Approximately three months ago, I sent you a letter (via fax) imploring that you consider making a run for the Presidency of the United States in 2012. Since I wrote you that letter in late-February, a great deal has changed in the political landscape. Our national debt has continued to balloon with no end in sight. We have reached our debt limit, yet politicians - most of them, anyway - continue to kick the ball down the road. The price of gasoline, although it has retreated somewhat from the four dollar level of a few weeks ago, is still well over twice the price that it was in January of 2009 when President Obama assumed office. The Federal Reserve and complicit politicians continue to devalue the dollar through inflationary policies, which rapidly erode the value of the retirement savings of our fellow citizens. And widespread unrest around the world, specifically in the Middle East, continues unabated. President Obama, in the meantime, insists on making campaign appearances and delivering inane speeches as evidenced by his recent speech regarding Israel's borders. While listening to Rush Limbaugh the other day (May 25th), I heard Mr. Limbaugh discuss the leadership qualities of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The caller to Mr. Limbaugh's show described Mr. Netanyahu as conservative, solid, proud, fearless, and principled. I agreed with the caller one hundred percent as I greatly admire Mr. Netanyahu. But the more I thought about those qualities, the more that I realized that you epitomize those very same characteristics. Mr. Limbaugh further expounded that Mr. Netanyahu can be described in one word: PASSIONATE. And "passionate" is the word that I would say best describes you, Col. West. Unlike the other Republicans that have announced their candidacy for the presidency next year, YOU, sir, exude the spirit, the drive, the unyielding principles and conviction - in a word: PASSION. Those of us that see you as the only true hope of our being freed from the bondage of the Obama administration see this passion in  you. Like Prime Minister Netanyahu, it is a quiet, yet forceful, passion. Unlike the majority of the other candidates, we do not see Col. West in it for the sake of Col. West. Therein lies the difference. We feel that we need not worry about you telling us one thing but doing another, once elected. We do not see you kowtowing to the left or to the "moderate Republicans". We see you standing up for what you - and those that elected you - believe in: liberty, military strength, and economic prosperity without governmental interference. Please, Col. West, consider this letter another plea - a plea from an American that loves his country as much as you do. An S.O.S. - a distress call - to rescue us from the economic tyranny that we have experienced for the past twenty-eight months. Please come to our rescue and make Barack Obama a one-term president. God bless you and God bless America.
