How bad is the President's position on Syria? This bad.

AP to State Dept.: Did everyone at the White House have a ‘spine removal?’

If you're part of the administration, and you want to know how badly things are going as you attempt to sell a war in Syria, look no further than the Associated Press. Usually, the AP is absolutely slavish to the Obama agenda. The President has a 'D' after his name, so they dutifully report his every musing as if his words had been etched in stone and delivered by a burning bush.
So, when they start to talk back, you know there's trouble in paradise. Yesterday, Associated Press reporter Matt Lee tore into State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki because he had trouble buying Kerry's claims that the President was acting "courageously." Lee asked:

"He over the weekend said the president was acting courageously by taking this to Congress, and I don't understand what is courageous about asking permission for something that you say you don't need and to do what you believe to be the right thing not just morally but in general. "Can you explain why this is a courageous move, and why the secretary would call it a courageous move?" His question received the kind of banal boilerplate answer that the AP usually laps up, but for some reason Lee wasn't playing along. He cut Psaki off and asked: "Was there some kind of - like, group spine-removal procedure at the White House over the weekend? I don't understand. How is this courageous?"
Can you technically remove something that was never there? Looks like we can add the AP to the long, and growing, list of news outlets that aren't interested in rescuing the President from his self-inflicted PR nightmare. Don't worry, though. We're sure this was just a temporary moment of clarity. Lee will be probably be reprimanded and the AP will go back to licking boots soon.
