Two paintings by Michael Hill from England have been selected for the prestigious Royal Society of Marine Artists Exhibition in London this October.

The paintings are: Winter Sunshine, St Ives, an acrylic painting measuring 37cm x 61cm, price: £720 and Fuel Tender, an acrylic painting measuring 40cm x 30cm, price: £475. The exhibition takes place between October 14 and October 25, 2015 in the Main Gallery and the Threadneedle Space, The Mall Galleries, The Mall, London. Michael Hill is president of Plymouth Watercolour Society and a member of Plymouth Society of Artists. Born in Plymouth he studied graphic art and design and after leaving college he worked as a freelance illustrator before taking up painting. He teaches art on a part-time basis as well as holding occasional workshops. Michael exhibits in galleries mainly in the southwest. "In painting it is important for me to convey a strong sense of place, but not to give too much away, letting form and colour melt together, hopefully to create a slight air of mystery," says Michael. www.salcombeartclub.org.uk
