Howard Rotberg, Mantua Books

At least this story has a good ending

Although Howard Rotberg and I grew up in small town Ontario, Canada, 16 miles apart, and both went to Law School, we never met. I became aware of him in 2008 as a result of his outrageous treatment as herein described. Howard just sent me this press release:

Howard Rotberg’s prescient 2003 novel, The Second Catastrophe: A Novel about a Book and its Author, about Israel during the Second Intifada and a Professor’s obsession with the possibility of Iran getting nuclear weapons and effecting a second Holocaust, was recently awarded a “finalist” pick in the 2014 Eric Hoffer Book Awards. For many years, it had been banned by Canada’s monopoly book retailer.* Rotberg’s latest book is Tolerism: The Ideology Revealed. ) The winner of the Montaigne Medal for 2014 was another title by Mantua Books, Professor Salim Mansur’s Delectable Lie: A Liberal Repudiation of Multiculturalism. Mansur’s book challenges the theory underlying multiculturalism policies, and argues that not all cultures are equal, and those cultures that persecute religious and ethnic minorities, and abuse women, gays, children, and seekers of freedom of expression and other liberal freedoms, are in no way the equal of cultures that are based on the maintenance of individual human rights and liberal freedoms. See .hofferaward.com and mantuabooks.com . The latest release from Mantua is Giulio Meotti’s The Vatican Against Israel and the next release will be Gustavo Perednik’s To Kill Without a Trace: A Prequel to 9/11.
Howard is now the owner of Mantua Books. Recently he asked me to publicize some of their books which I did in the Right Column. Howard paid me generously for the publicity. He became the owner of this company because he wanted to fill a void. He had just written a politically incorrect book and couldn’t find a publisher for it. So he took over the company and began publishing such books. At my suggestion he published a book by Guy Milliere, an intellectual French Conservative, and I think one other book which escapes my memory. In 2009, he wrote How I Became a Banned Author in Canada that is what brought us together. I urge you to read this fascinating account. Sadly, it took place in Canada and sadly the owners of the bookstore mentioned are respectable members of the Toronto Jewish community.
