The current situation of our Canadian air force being held hostage by out sourcing our plane development and needs has got to stop.
In the mid to late 1950s Canada was developing the Avro Arrow which was considered ‘ahead’ of its time by the WORLD, no less. We had brilliant, talented people working in this industry and it was nothing short of promising. However, due to a government that lacked foresight and/or intelligence of what the future held in store, it was dismantled and left to die. A brilliant workforce was unemployed and many went to the USA for employment as a result. They were welcomed with open arms! Just as we are now building our own ships because of the talent we have in Canada, we should do likewise with avionics. Stop bleeding our talented avionic engineers who have to seek employment in other countries. This has the potential to give Canada, as it once had, independence in its own future development and security. It gives Canadians a chance to develop talent we know they can offer.

I think the delay in the F-35’s puts this in better light. It is a NO brainer. BRING the industry back to Canada, Peter McKay. Give our Canadian workforce this opportunity to do it right. The sooner the better. L. G. Anderson Spruce Grove, AB
