Why “Pass this Jobs Bill!” Was and Is Wrong

Bad Grammar

We were all somehow “privileged” to see President Obama’s “Job Speech” a few days ago and it not doubt stands out for what it is and what it is not. Some such as the Wall Street Journal have introduced the idea that it is nothing new, it is a rehash of previous “job bills” or something to that effect, and they did not get passed previously because apparently even many Democrats did not accept it, considering that the Democrats owned all three branches of government.
What stood out to me, and probably to many others who withstood watching the speech, was his many times saying that the bill had to be passed “right away,” “right now,” “quickly,” etc., or words to that effect. I vaguely remember one FOX Cable News-person saying that this theme was repeated 17 times. Seventeen! This idea of Obama creating Jobs is astounding! Consider the following:

Auto Dealerships

According to Reuters, “A Record 881 US auto dealerships closed in 2008”. This news item goes on to explain to the “unwashed” that the big car makers had “encouraged their dealerships to consolidate in a bid to streamline their retail operations and reduce competition that has hit margins.”

And this Obama-friendly news outlet put this out to “enlighten” the reader and not leave anyone with the idea that those that were closed were in any way influenced by politics. But it was setting the stage for Obama, as we shall see. It is logical, of course, that not all those closed may be attributed to an Obama reprisal for some dealerships not supporting him but, instead, it evolved that many were later closed suspiciously for supporting his opponent. I’m sure many of us have seen and can remember some interviews and reports from some of those dealership owners that a form of reprisal was indeed forced upon them for not voting for “hope and change.” In May, 2009 we find the “furor” had not abated or ceased. The Washington Examiner points out that: “Evidence appears to be mounting that the Obama administration has systematically targeted for closing Chrysler dealers who contributed to Republicans.” Where there is much more evidence to prove this point. This article tends to wrap up that the Right is correct in making the claim that many of those 2009 closures were indeed politically-based. Some who found themselves way too deep in Obama’s political pocket cried foul, of course, and stated conclusively that this “conspiracy” of blaming Obama for many of those closures had been debunked. One was Politicususa and should be read because that website discloses much of how and why the “Right Wing Conspiracy” is so targeted and hated. They even put a video of White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs “addressing” the subject. To me, this spin somehow brings to mind a picture of a ballgirl in a major league game being given credit for a year-end competition win. Such a spin “Stretch” Gibbs very often put on Obama's questionable offerings. The 2008/09 closures point out that we saw hundreds of good jobs being lost in car dealerships and soon even more will be lost in the mines if Obama’s promises are fulfilled. Possibly the numbers could already go into the thousands if you count mechanics, parts department workers and sales people. For those on the Left, that’s just fine: “They can find other jobs.” Right! With this concept, the old thought comes to mind that FDR “invented” Social Security to force or encourage people to retire at a predetermined age just so younger people could find jobs. However, many of those in the auto dealership category had already invested the family fortune in the venture, so to speak, and this investment in time and money was effectively lost to them when those dealerships closed.

Coal Mining

Now let’s consider the Coal Mining Industry. You know, those people who risk their lives, sometimes willingly or as a family tradition, and this also numbers into the thousands. Remember that Obama stated in his run-up to the 2008 election that the cost of power would “necessarily skyrocket” and this was stated as a promise. Obama's intention to close mines and destroy the coal industry was no doubt more than a mere hint. Since coal produces about 45% of the nation’s electrical power, it is not something we should take so lightly as does Obama in his eloquent way of pronouncing doom and destruction. It is not going to affect only our use of night lights and microwaves. It will affect every hospital (health costs?), farming and farm product processing venture (food costs?) and this also includes the transportation costs in the background. Also, there remains the notion that potentially good food from grain must be used for fuel additives, something that has proved much less than completely successful or cost-effective. Grain for fuel has, in fact, driven up the price of both fuel and food and, in some cases, it leaves a shortage of grain, thus an element in the higher price of grain-based food. There is much more to this, therefore, than grain being chosen in an attempt to eliminate the need for so much oil. In fact, it is only the tip of Obama’s Titanic iceberg, a destructive and mostly hidden plan that is not always seen by the public. In 1980, a little over thirty years ago, there were 220,000 coal miners. Today, as that the Bydesign.com website shows, there are fewer than 100,000 but with a production change of 800,000 tons in 1980 to over a billion tons today. Most of the increased coal production with fewer people in the coal industry may be attributed to more efficient machinery and methods while maintaining and improving safety. Sure, there are a few mine disasters but just as we have a few airline crashes, consider that there is a parallel here: There are an estimated 50,000 planes in the air every day and very few of them crash. Same with mining! For the many thousands of mining man-hours, the few disasters are seen as exceptions to the safety rules and this makes them so noticeable. Most tragic mining disasters are not in America, though, but we are very sensitive to the ones we do have. The number of coal miners voluntarily going to work in American mines every day is one indication of how mining safety is not the problem it was in the early part of the past century. This also makes the loss of jobs seem even more significant and felt by working miners. From what was read above, we see the job numbers where Obama has effected a job loss in the auto dealership industry (read the Washington Examiner article presented above) and we also have his promise to eliminate coal and, subsequently, coal mining. What would follow in his planning we will “go green” but we would then undoubtedly and quickly realize the extreme shortfall of wind and solar as replacement sources of power. We must ask, then, is Obama really concerned with America’s jobless or potential jobless rates or was he again rehashing the socialist mantra of controlling the lives of every American — even if it ends in failure? Was he again the glib politician, the adept ‘prompter reader, the forecaster of doom as he has already proved many times with his Left and Deft Executive Order hand? Why then did Obama present this Jobs Bill speech? Was it more political (remember 2012?) or was he showing real concern for America and her people? Does this need further, more-detailed definition? Obama does not have America’s best interests at heart as he continues to attend to the goals of Globalization and a UN takeover of many elements of our lives and apparently believes that if he is not “The Man” in the White House, those Globalist goals will not be accomplished. Obama’s almost insistent haste and continual bid to “pass this bill now” in his Jobs Speech has been said to both further his bid for 2012 AND to get Congress to pass it with little scrutiny and discussion. (“We must pass this bill to see what’s in it...”) In fact, I read one report that the Senate has already “passed” a bill along the lines that Obama posed in his speech and it was done in a few short days after Obama’s famous Jobs Speech. No wonder, though. It was probably discussed in one of the strategy sessions Obama no doubt still has with his political in-crowd (remember the Conference Calls from the White House every day?) and this was planned in minute detail by the Obama supporters and handlers. How the newly-elected Republicans, those backed by the Tea Party Movement, react to this? Will they prove their mettle was correctly assessed when they were elected? This will be a test that reveals if some in that group are RINOs and their reaction to Obama’s “Job Speech” will also determine if they succeed in future elections or merely become part of political history. The “Pass this bill now!” mantra that Obama pressed upon us in his Teleprompter Speech was no doubt awe-inspiring to the Democrats and Obama’s handlers on the Left. However, for those who know how Obama operates, the word “Pass” was used incorrectly and was therefore wrong! To truthful, fair-minded and experienced minds, to people who really know Obama and his ways, the word should have been “Bypass.” Therefore, when Obama said: “Pass this Jobs Bill!” we need to immediately interpret it, and hopefully Congress will do so as well, as: “Bypass this Jobs Bill!”
