(Palatine, Illinois) - March 5, 2010 - Melissa Bean has raised $1,004,549* and has $784,894* cash on hand as of Wednesday, January 13, 2010 and has to defend receiving $28,000 between 2005 and 2007 from the New York congressman Charlie Rangel. While other Democrats dump their cash, Melissa Bean’s spokesman Jonathan Lipman made this statement. “The money was given before Rangel was under investigation for ethics abuses. Plus, he says, the money has already been spent.”

So if we understand from Melissa Bean that as long as you spent the money, it’s okay? The Ethics Committee is still investigating additional issues against New York congressman Charlie Rangel and the investigation continues. Melissa Bean’s statement and actions are exactly what is wrong in politics today and why people continue to be unhappy with Congress. Unless, Melissa Bean tracks every dollar in to every expense out her statement is subjective. There needs to be common sense used by both parties. The latest Congressional performance statistics as reported by Rasmussen Reports. “Voter unhappiness with Congress has reached the highest level ever recorded by Rasmussen Reports as 71% now say the legislature is doing a poor job. That’s up ten points from the previous high of 61% reached.” “Only 10% of voters say Congress is doing a good or excellent job.” “Nearly half of Democratic voters (48%) now give Congress a poor rating, up 17 points since January. The vast majority of Republicans and voters not affiliated with either party also give Congress poor ratings.” *Datasource provided by OpenSecrets.org TeaPartyPalatine.com
