Manila, Philippines—Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan ordered all personnel assigned in the country’s premier ports to undergo vaccination in a bid to prevent the spread of swine flu.

Libanan issued the order to heads of various international ports and other immigration field offices and sub-ports nationwide, requiring them to get a vaccine shot to try to hold back the N1-H1 virus strain from the country. “For safety and health considerations with international incoming passengers who may be infected with the swine flu, all immigration personnel assigned at international airports and seaports are directed to undergo mandatory vaccination against the said illness,” Libanan said in a memorandum.
