Biden Campaign Bus and Highway Liars

While the Biden campaign blames the Trump cars in front of the Biden bus, the black truck behind the Biden bus was clearly taken by surprise and did not know that the Biden bus was going to slow down

Biden Campaign Bus and Highway LiarsBy now those following the news have heard the Biden campaign and media complaining that Trump supporters on Interstate 35 in Texas vastly outnumbered Biden supporters traveling with the Biden campaign bus. A large black pick-up truck with Trump signs supposedly collided with a smaller white SUV behind the Biden campaign bus. We are told that the SUV was driven by a Biden staffer.

In this first video retweeted by President Trump, (See Below), we can clearly see at time 0:22 that the white SUV is not in the same lane as the Biden campaign bus. The white SUV is clearly at and just beyond the corner of the bus. So it is not in the same lane. It is in the next lane over. In the second video, (See Below), published by the Houston Chronicle, we see the white SUV leaving the lane behind the bus, and the black truck closes the distance with the rear of the Biden bus. The white SUV then dangerously and recklessly tries to move back into the lane that it had just left, directly abreast the truck. Thus, the white SUV clearly threatens a collision with the black truck and tries to force the black truck out of its lane. In this third video shared through Twitter, we see the black truck with Trump signs is traveling properly in its own lane. The Trump supporter is obeying the traffic laws, traveling squarely within his or her own lane. But the white SUV is violating the traffic laws. The white SUV is straddling the dividing line between lanes. The white SUV is half in the black truck’s lane and half in the lane that the white SUV had previously been travelling in, in the first video. The white SUV is breaking the law by being half in one lane and half in the other. But here is the clincher: At about time 0:15 in the third video, look very, very closely at the tires of the black truck with the Trump signs. The tires are surrounded by smoke or dust. The black truck is slamming on its brakes.

While anyone will need to watch these fast-moving videos many times, at least once or twice, do not focus on anything else but the black truck’s tires. There is an extraordinary plume of smoke that suddenly appears around the black truck’s tires. And this is before the black truck and the white SUV collide. Prior to the collision, the black truck with the Trump signs is braking severely, so much so that the tires screeching on the highway are causing a large cloud of nearly-black smoke around all of the tires. All of the visible tires are surrounded. The Biden campaign admitted to CNN that the bus was coming to a stop: “At one point they slowed the tour bus to roughly 20 mph on Interstate 35, the campaign official said.” While the Biden campaign blames the Trump cars in front of the Biden bus, the black truck behind the Biden bus was clearly taken by surprise and did not know that the Biden bus was going to slow down. So the third video clearly shows that when the Biden bus slowed down, the black truck with Trump signs was forced to slam on its brakes to avoid crashing into the back of the Biden bus. And note that the truck clearly does try to avoid hitting the Biden bus. But because the white SUV had left its separate lane where we see it in the first video, and was travelling illegally half in its original lane and half in the lane that the black truck was correctly traveling in squarely in the middle of its lane, the black truck had nowhere to go. When the black truck slams on its brakes, with the white SUV intruding into its lane, it comes into contact with the black truck.

I say “comes into contact” speaking as a criminal defense attorney in Virginia. There appears to be no damage to either vehicle. Although it looks dramatic – because the black truck is desperately trying to avoid running into the back of the Biden bus – the actual contact between the SUV and the truck appears to be extremely minor. Stop the twitter video and, while stopped, move the button along the timeline manually. The black truck appears to be pristine – untouched. By time 0:22 we can see that the truck is undamaged. Yes, the black truck is bigger and sturdier, but the driver side front panel would have been collapsed or scraped with white paint if the collision were violent. It appears after careful analysis that the white SUV swerved to evade the black truck and the black truck struggled to swing back into traveling straight. It appears that the vehicles barely struck each other. The violent movements are partly from the drivers by their steering wheels. Again, I practice criminal defense law in Virginia, and the most common cases are traffic, reckless driving, DWI, etc.. None of those vehicles should have been driving so closely together, including the Biden supporters. None of them. The Trump supporters could have made their point without being that close to the Biden bus. Any of those drivers traveling so close to be unable to stop safely would be guilty of a traffic infraction of “following too closely” or even reckless driving (a misdemeanor crime in Virginia). While I am not a Texas attorney, it appears that Texas Transportation Code § 545.401 would also make this reckless driving.

However, the white SUV traveling half in one lane and half in the other would be no less guilty if the police charged everyone and let an honest judge sort it out. In a fourth view, embedded in a Fox News report, starting at time 2:00, we see apparently the same black truck following the Biden bus at a safe distance without any incident.
