Biden Spends A Billion On Discrimination Against Children

Last week, Fox News Digital Reported some outrageous numbers on the amount of spending the Biden administration used to discriminate against children.

In the report, it was learned that:

• $489,883,797 was spent on race-based hiring
• $343,337,286 was spent on DEI programming
• $169,301,221 was spent on DEI mental health initiatives

Funding DEI is more than wasteful; it’s actively damaging to children

We all know that the Biden administration is second to none when it comes to wasting money, but funding DEI is more than wasteful; it’s actively damaging to children.

Parents Defending Education reviewed publicly available data from the radicalized government agency and tracked 229 DEI-based grants sent to 42 states and the District of Columbia. The grants reached some 6.7 million students, according to the report.

The findings are concerning. The report highlights several key points:

Several grants provide programs that enhance teacher recruitment, hiring, and training based on race, including the use of racially based affinity groups. These hirings are not done just for the sake of it; they are done to ramp up the students' programming.

For Instance:

• The University of Iowa received a grant of $1,261,718 to train 40 elementary teachers in "equity-centered education" for partner K-12 districts.
• The School District of Philadelphia received $3,973,175 for its restorative justice program, which is modelled after the Oakland Unified School District's program in California. Additionally, one of the program's advisors is a noted far-left activist and a former member of the Communist Party USA.
• A Michigan school district spent over $38,000 on an equity consultant for a one-day professional development session and copies of their book.

Broad strokes of the planned DEI damage

Rhyen Staley, a researcher for Parents Defending Education, told Fox News Digital that the numbers in the report likely do not reflect the complete extent of the funding. He stated that the Biden administration has promoted leftist ideologies in U.S. schools instead of focusing on "rigorous, proven methods of instruction." As a result, American students have experienced significant declines in core educational subjects and are falling further behind their peers in other advanced nations.

“The only people or groups to benefit from the enormous amount of grant funding are the universities, administrators, and DEI consultants, at the expense of children’s education. This needs to change by placing children’s learning at the forefront of education instead of prioritizing race-based policies and DEI.”

These examples demonstrate the broad strokes of the planned DEI damage. For a specific example, look no further than what is taking place in Wisconsin’s fourth-largest school district.

Colbey Decker alleges that her dyslexic elementary school-aged son was denied reading resources due to his race. According to Cory Brewer, the education counsel at WILL, Green Bay public school officials have not denied the existence of a discriminatory initiative that prioritizes educational resources for Black, Hispanic, and 'First Nation' students over other students.

Based on their actions, The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) is considering legal action against the Green Bay Area School District regarding a "School Success" plan that favors certain racial groups over others.

The law demands students be treated fairly without regard to race

In a Friday phone interview with the Federalist, Brewer said:

“A lot of school districts like Green Bay are well-intentioned, but that doesn’t change the law, which demands students be treated fairly without regard to race. Not only is it immoral, it’s illegal. We want to see it end, both here and across Wisconsin and across the country.”

In a letter last week to Green Bay Superintendent Vicki Bayer, the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty cautioned that the district’s policy, which is “racially discriminatory, harms students in need of support.”

“The district’s literacy policy establishes ‘priority groups’ by race — namely, Black, Hispanic, and Native American students — and states that the school will conduct ‘intentional work educating our focus students, prioritizing additional resources to First Nations, Black, and Hispanic students.” WILL claims that the district’s unequal treatment of students based on race violates the U.S. Constitution and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

WILL asserts that, despite the parent’s “persistent advocacy, her son’s needs were overlooked for almost a full year, and then his access to essential literacy interventions was delayed.” The boy was ultimately placed on a waitlist for a lower-quality reading intervention program, as indicated in the letter. This fall, Decker was informed that her son would finally receive one-on-one intervention; however, the sessions would be held in small groups.

“This continued lack of adequate support has had a significant impact on her son. He struggles with reading across all subjects,” WILL contacted the superintendent, whose contract was recently approved by the school board, removing the “interim” tag from her job title.

Decker stated that school officials suggested her son would have received specialized resources earlier if he were part of the "priority" group.

“I was speechless. I think we need to help every student in need, and using the guise of ‘diversity’ simply creates more division and hurts all students.”

The Green Bay Area Public School District did not respond to The Federalist's request for comment on Friday afternoon. However, in a statement to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, the district appeared to seriously shape-shift its language regarding the "School Success" plan.

“We can state unequivocally that the District does not have a policy that includes the language included in the letter. “All District policies must be approved by the Board of Education, and no such policy language exists.”

The Madison Metropolitan Area School District attempted to use similar arguments to block an open records request made by a Milwaukee law firm. WILL sought records from MMSD regarding a whistleblower's allegations about a "racially discriminatory policy that treats Black students more favorably than students of other races." The Madison schools ultimately lost that lawsuit in a big way.

WILL’s demands are simple. They want Green Bay to:

“Abandon its discriminatory policy and return its focus to serving all students based on need — not race.” If not, the law firm says it will “take appropriate legal action.”

DEI is a seed that’s planted by the left in the form of woke teachers and administrative officials. Except the only thing these seeds grow is confused and hateful children to add to their woke army. While this is taking place, the left is disguising its prejudices against whites in order to advance its systematic racism theory.

These radicals know what they’re doing is wrong, and they don’t care. There used to be a commercial for The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) that emphasized the idea that “A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Waste,” and it remains their motto to this day. Our country has always cared about educating minorities, but they need to willingly participate in their education. Sacrificing the education of white students to achieve that goal isn’t equality; it’s division and creates more significant problems than it solves.
