Vancouver, B.C. – BikeHike Adventures Inc., a Vancouver-based adventure travel tour company, is seeing its unique approach to developing active, culturally-focused tours helping to define the “next” bucket list for many of their clients. In fact, over the past six years, BikeHike has been honoured with four of their adventures – Ecuador: Andes to Amazon (2008), Costa Rica: Coast to Coast (2009), Viva Venezuela (2010), and Romania: Transylvania Traverse (2014) – being included as one of National Geographic Traveler’s annual 50 Tours of a Lifetime.
Trish Sare, Founder and Director of BikeHike Adventures, said: “Many of our clients have already done some travelling and have seen many of the places on their initial bucket list – icons like the Eiffel Tower, the Sistine Chapel, and the Sydney Opera House. They tell us that our tours take their bucket list to a whole different level or that ‘next’ level.” With BikeHike, clients can choose from any one of 50 specially planned trips in more than 30 countries around the world. Travellers can join a semi-nomadic family in Morocco as they trek the High Atlas Mountains in search of pastures for a vast flock of animals. Or they can find themselves on the Romania: Transylvania Traverse, a 10-day multi-sport adventure through remote Transylvania – where life is full of genuine tradition and folklore. This tour focuses on travelling by foot, horse, bike and cart through a region that is peppered with small villages, where locals spend their lives as blacksmiths, shepherds and weavers. Evenings are spent in traditional guesthouses, enjoying home cooked specialties, with two nights in an estate owned by Prince Charles.

Explained Sare: “Our clients want a true once-in-a-lifetime trip with rich experiences that money just can’t buy. It’s not about how luxurious the hotel is – it’s about getting out of your comfort zone in a good way; it’s about creating authentic connections and discovering unexpected delights. Our guests tell us that our tours provide more than they ever expected from a trip.” Over the past 20 years, clients have told Sare that after a BikeHike trip, their “bucket list” expands to the next level – they see the world differently and they want to see more. Added Sare: “We cater to travellers looking for something off the beaten path. They want that special moment that can’t be replicated even if you took the same trip. Each individual tour has its own magic.” Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2014, BikeHike Adventures (www.bikehike.com) specializes in multi-sport adventure travel tours in more than 30 countries worldwide. Biking, hiking, whitewater rafting, sea kayaking and horseback riding are just a few examples of the multi-sport activities offered. Tours have a range of activity levels from easy to strenuous. Customized private holidays are available, as are volunteer adventure trips, active family vacations, honeymoons and corporate team-building trips. All tours are limited to 12 individuals in order to provide a more authentic experience. With no single supplement fee, solo travellers are welcome and encouraged.
