B’nai Brith applauds Liberal Quebec MNA Lawrence Bergman’s condemnation of vigile.net

B’nai Brith Canada – Quebec has applauded Liberal Quebec MNA Lawrence Bergman’s condemnation of the antisemitic postings on the pro-sovereignty website vigile.net. The Honourable Lawrence Bergman put forth a motion last week denouncing the comments and calling on the Parti Québécois (PQ) members who donated to the site to stop their financial contributions.

“The postings on vigile.net are prime examples of antisemitic statements,” said Me Allan Adel, National Chair of the League for Human Rights. “When someone comments that Jews ‘control nearly all states through international banks’ … ‘suck the lifeblood out of the countries in which they live" and … ‘it's no surprise they were hated wherever they lived’, no-one can deny that this is outright anti-Jewish bigotry. “Antisemitism should not be tolerated in Quebec society. Such remarks are totally unacceptable and go beyond the limits of freedom of expression. They border on the wilful promotion of hatred and have no place on a pro-sovereignty website. “We commend Mr. Bergman for calling on PQ officials to stop contributing financially to a website that posts antisemitic content ,and for publically denouncing such vehement antisemitism.”
