B’nai Brith Canada calls for review of UN Special Rapporteur Richard Falk’s appointment

TORONTO, – B’nai Brith Canada has called for an immediate review of Richard Falk’s position as UN Special Rapporteur on “the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories” following his recent comments to a Palestinian news outlet accusing “the organized Jewish community” of being responsible for the “confiscation” of Palestinian lands.

The Jewish human rights organization has also condemned the UN for its complicity in allowing Falk’s ongoing tirades against the Jewish State and enabling his most recent attack on the global Jewish community. Frank Dimant, CEO of B'nai Brith Canada, issued the following statement: “The fact that the UN has failed to reprimand UN Special Rapporteur Richard Falk for his conspiracy theory against Jewish communities around the world illustrates that tolerance for antisemitism, in the guise of anti-Zionism, is becoming commonplace throughout the UN system. Given the long history of complaints regarding Richard Falk’s conduct, we are calling on the UN to hold an immediate review of his appointment, with a view to ending the obvious abuse of his Special Rapporteur position through the biased, inflammatory and discriminatory pronouncements he makes in the name of the UN.”
