B’nai Brith Canada calls on Canadians to commemorate Yom Ha-Shoah

B'nai Brith Canada has called on all Canadians to commemorate Yom Ha-Shoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day - to ensure that the victims of Hitler’s Nazi regime are never forgotten.

“Six million Jewish victims were massacred by the Nazis. Each and every murder stemmed from rampant antisemitism in Nazi Germany and across Europe,” said Frank Dimant, CEO of B’nai Brith Canada. “We must never forget these six million lost souls, each of them an individual with a name, a persona, and hope and dreams of their own. When we call out their names at Yom Ha-Shoah memorials across Canada, we ensure that a record of their existence remains and thereby we honour them.” As just one of B’nai Brith’s commemorative events, in Toronto on Monday May 2, 2011, a commemoration will be hosted jointly by the organization’s League for Human Rights and the Law Society of Upper Canada through a discussion on how best to implement into current-day policies the lessons learned from the plight of Holocaust-era refugees.
